You started your business because you were dreaming about having something tomorrow that you don't have today. Maybe it was something small like an adult company if you're a stay at home mom. Maybe it was something mid-size like the money to pay for a family vacation every year. Maybe it was something big like leaving your full time job and living the life you always dreamed of.

If you're like most people, you were brought up by parents that taught you to "be sensible", "be realistic", "be responsible". So, if you ever had the courage to dream of a bigger, better life for yourself, you probably had a little voice in your head telling you that you have to be responsible, get a real job, people don't really get to live like that, that stuff just happens in the movies.

I'm here to tell you that your dream absolutely, positively, can come true if you choose to believe in it and take action towards it. No matter who you are, no matter where you are. Your belief, the one you choose, will either move you forward toward your dream or hold you back. There is nothing in between.

I started my business in January of 2006. My husband had been laid off from the company I still work for full time and we chose to believe that at 41 years of age, he could still achieve his dream of being a professional pilot.

He has had his pilot's license since he was 18 or so, went to college and graduated with a degree in aviation management. After he graduated, he got a "real job" with "security". It was ok for a while. We bought a house, got married, built security. Some time before he lost his job, he was the facilities manager of the warehouse, then they decided to close that facility and he moved into a position of project manager. He hated that job more and more every day and it really began to affect his entire personality, but it was still "secure" and "responsible". When he got laid off, we were finally in a position where we were fairly comfortable. We still had debt and bills, but we could afford to go out to dinner if we felt like it or go to the movies, and take our annual vacation in Atlanta every year.

What we were considering meant living on my salary alone, which was about 3/4 what his was at the time. He got a severance package that gave us a few months and unemployment for a little while and we had some savings. I said, "I'll wait tables if I have to, I want you to give this a real shot, I want you to be happy."

Thankfully, my business came along and really helped us financially. It also helped me so much mentally. I mean, I have been working for this company for 14 years. I like my job OK, but it's just that, a JOB. It's "secure" and "responsible", but it's not something I'm really proud to tell people I do. I mean, the company I work for creates computer programs for car dealerships, you know the ones that help that service guy rip you off? How does that make anyone feel good about themselves?

I never ever had the courage to dream of anything for myself. I fantasized, sure about winning the lottery, but never really considered a better life for myself until my business came along. Now, I see myself with the freedom I never even dreamed of before 2006.

Now, I know that a better life exists for me. I know it because my husband, right now at 43 years of age, is in training to fly a jet for the airlines.

Dreams do come true, if you only choose to believe in them and take action.

What is your dream? I'll tell you mine, to leave this corporate job at the end of 2008. To make my business my main source of income and to grow my team so that I am surrounded by empowered amazing women that see a better life for themselves!
